Having a wind generator lets a household save thousands of cash monthly. Making one's own is the cheaper option, instead of buying one from a store or the internet. If bought, a one thousand-watt generator including a tower can cost at least four thousand dollars, and one still has to install it himself. That is an outrageous price, beyond the budget of an average family. It is quite a large initial investment.

With a little diligence in studying the basics of construction as well as basic electronics, it is possible to build one's own instead. The internet has a lot of sites that guide people on how to go about making their own custom-homemade design. It can be a family project and give lots of fun as well, and after it is finished, supply free energy. It does require considerable effort and know-how, but once it is done, it is well worth it because the home need not purchase any expensive power any longer. It becomes energy independent. If only other households follow suit, this will have a great impact on the environment since there will be lesser need to exploit nature just to provide adequate electricity.

One other side benefit of wind generators is that they are beautiful. They have a visually appealing design if well-built and well-planned. Comparing again with solar panels, wind generators look so much better. A body made of stainless steel, with a tail and blades that are very colorful make for a great sight.
