One can never go wrong with giving jewelry as presents, especially if it is made of diamonds because diamonds are a girl's best friend. Even if she is not fond of jewelry, she will still appreciate a diamond jewelry. Diamonds are probably the most precious of all the stones out there, it is most definitely the most valuable. Real diamonds can be quite expensive and not everyone is lucky enough to be able to afford even a small cut diamond, especially during these times of economic crisis, this is why fancy diamonds are in. Fancy diamonds come in different colors, red, blue, yellow, pink, purple, green and grey. To the untrained eye a grey diamond looks like a real diamond because it closely resembles a real one, which makes it the most popular color in fancy diamonds. It is cheaper than a real diamond but it does not look inexpensive. It can also come in a variety of color combinations.

Fancy diamonds are not exactly cheap, but they are not as expensive as the real ones as well. Fake diamonds are different from fancy natural colored diamonds, these are cultured precious stones. Real diamonds are harvested in mines, like most precious gems, but it is not impossible to grow them in a laboratory as well. That is why it comes in a variety of colors. These are an alternative to the real thing and was made for the average person to be able to afford.

It is very hard to tell if one has a cultured or fancy diamond or an actual diamond, unless you are trained to notice. It is very hard to tell if what you have are merely fancy grey diamonds or the real ones, unless you know what to watch out for. When talking about gray diamonds, real diamonds have a grading authority, this is a certification of the grade and clarity of a diamond, when you purchase a diamond, you will be provided with this. Another way to tell a real one from a fancy one is how it bends the light, fakes don't bend light and you'll be able to look through them, real ones bend the light sharply. If a diamond is mounted, you will not be able to see the bottom looking from the top. Check out the reflections of the diamond, real ones will show various shades of grey while fancy ones or fake ones will show you a rainbow. you can also tell if a diamond is real through the metal it's mounted on. Real diamonds will not be likely to be placed on cheap metal, check the stamp setting on the inside of the ring which tells you whether your ring is platinum or gold and will also display the carat. If you spot a C.Z. stamp on the mount the rock is on, then what you have is a fake.
