After a long hiatus, US Soccer Online is back and just in time to preview the US vs. France match that is set to take place on Friday in Paris, France at the Stade de France. Jurgen Klinsman has not had the best start as the Coach of the US Men's National Team, going 1-3-1 since he took over for Bob Bradley. Friday's test against a tough French National Team will not be any easier for a US team in transition.
With Landon Donovan wanting to stay in LA and prepare for the MLS cup we should see 1899 Hoffenheim winger, Fabian Johnson, get a good amount of minutes vs. France and then on the 15th vs. Slovenia.

Here is my projected starting lineup –
Altidore
Shea-Dempsey-F.Johnson
Williams-Beckerman
Chandler-Boca-Gooch-Cherundolo
Howard

While this is the most likely lineup vs. France that we are to see due to the strength of the National team, it would not be wise for the US to experiment too much. That experimenting will be saved for the match vs. Slovenia. Fabian Johnson plays in the position that Donovan would occupy and is more of a winger than Daniel Williams. Williams is also put back into his natural position of Defensive Midfielder.
The backline remains the same as it was in the second half vs. Honduras and in the game vs. Ecuador. Though, it would not be a surprise if Oguchi Onyewu did not play since he had been recovering from a groin strain. That would leave the door open for either Clarence Goodson or Orozco Fiscal to step-in or Klinsman can place Alfredo Morales into the backline. Morales has good size and passing ability but has limited experience if any along the backline.
This is a good opportunity for the US to get on track and build some momentum. With only three scheduled matches (one tentatively scheduled vs. Italy in February) before qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil starts. The roster for qualifying will look similar to the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup version but for Brazil 2014 it will be very different. It will be comprised of some of the very talented players that are currently gathered for the U20/23 US National Team camp in Germany. Offensive players such as Joe Gyau, Josh Gatt, and Terrence Boyd. Also, the highly touted central defender John Anthony Brooks who is rated as the best US youth prospect by many.
