Bathroom remodeling projects are some of the most popular home improvement projects in America. This is because the bath remodel cost is fairly low when compared to other rooms, such as a kitchen. Also, many homeowners get nearly all of their money returned from their initial investment in the bathroom when they sell their homes, a remodeled bathroom can increase the value of a home that much. While more affordable than a kitchen remodel, a bath remodel cost is not exactly free, it is still a rather large investment for most individuals. Also, there are so many choices involved with a bathroom remodel such as cabinets, fixtures, shower doors and tiles that can all greatly affect the overall cost of the project. Contractor fees, delivery fees and installation fees also greatly add to your bath remodel cost. Typically the cost of remodeling a bathroom is anywhere from $3500 to $20,000, because of all of the different variables involved. When attempting to determine the cost of your bath remodel project, make sure to consider the following aspects of the remodel process to help you gain a better estimate on the total cost of your project.

Room Resizing

One of the more expensive elements to any bathroom remodel comes when a room is expanded to make a bathroom bigger. This means knocking down current walls and building new walls in your home. This can cost people thousands of dollars alone depending on the magnitude of the project.

Cabinets

Cabinets are not a cheap addition to a bathroom, especially if you get custom cabinetry. To save on cabinet costs, try to get unfinished stock cabinets. They are very cheap, and you can stain and add your own hardware to the cabinets once they are delivered.

Fixtures

Fixtures are quite possibly the most significant part of an overall bath remodel cost. If you are replacing the sink, toilet and shower, be prepared to have the cost of your project increase greatly. Check your local home improvement store for sales on these items to lower costs.

Flooring

There are a lot of decisions that need to be made when choosing flooring, and different types of flooring can greatly add to the overall bathroom remodel cost. To save some money, tile the floor yourself. Tiles can be bought at a home improvement store and are very easy to install, especially in square shaped bathrooms.

Accessories

Smaller accessories in your new bathroom, such as lighting fixtures, window treatments sink and shower knobs and cabinet handles can all add up too. The best way to save money on these things is to do them yourself. Purchase lights, blinds, knobs and hardware from a home improvement store and install them yourself, it will greatly decrease your overall bathroom remodel cost.
