When you want to do some workout at home, there are so many workout equipment that are offered in the market today. Depending on how much work you want done or what kind of workout you wish to do. Two of the most popularly used items in fitness gyms are exercise bikes and treadmills. If you are going to purchase one for home use, which one would you use? This article can help you decide.

You must realize that most people who choose to workout at home always have difficulty sustaining their routine. Most often than not, boredom and too much distraction set in. First, you'll be doing it on your own; you don't have the luxury of having a gym partner or instructor to talk to while doing your routine. Also, if you choose to do home workout, there are household chores that need to be done that you end up foregoing your workout.

Managing the disruptions can be done by setting a specific time for you to do your exercise routine. Set aside at least an hour a day for your routine.

However, it is a different story when it comes to boredom. Most people who have treadmills at home confirm that it can become tiresome after some time since all you have to do is walk, though you can choose different speeds, but that is all that you can do with it. Though, you can watch TV while doing exercises on the treadmill.

How about with exercise bikes? Modern exercise bikes have pre-programmed workout routines that can provide versatility to your routine. There are various program levels that you can perform without having to press a lot of buttons.

Do you enjoy reading? When you have a treadmill, it is a challenge to pick up a book and read while doing your workout routine. On the other hand , when you have an exercise bike, especially the recumbent type, you can read a book while you exercise! So even if there's a document you need to review, you can still do so while you exercise. How convenient!

Studies conducted by some equipment manufacturers point out that a treadmill allow you to burn more calories than any other exercise machines. That may be true, but think about this: yes, you can burn more calories with treadmills, the question is, how long will you be able to keep up it before getting bored with the same routine everyday?

With exercise bikes, you are more likely to stick with it long term because of the versatility of the machine plus you get to do a lot of other things while you do your workout routine.

Last point of comparison is the user's safety. How often do you hear or see people in the gym fall off from the treadmill? One wrong move and you'll end up on the floor. When you are in an exercise bike, it would be next to impossible if you have to fall off, you'll have to be so clumsy to fall off!

So, you decide, exercise bikes or treadmills? The choice is very obvious!
