Looking for the perfect fashion clothing is not a walk in the park for most people. There are some who are talented enough that they can pick the right dress for them in a store for whatever occasion in under an hour without breaking a sweat. However for most people, looking for that knock-out dress is not that easy. Here are some simple to remember tips in looking for the perfect fashion clothing for you.

First, think of the occasion why you are buying the dress. This will allow you to decide the level of formality, the color, the style, the cut and other pertinent dress details. If you are buying a dress to use for your senior dance, this will mean that you are looking for a formal dress. Preparing for a brunch with your new boyfriend's parents? Then that is a less formal situation, no need for a long gown type of dress.

Secondly, consider your body shape. There are 4 distinct body shapes - rectangle, hourglass, triangle and reverse triangle. An hourglass body looks like Barbie's body. A rectanlge body has little to no curves and has the same size on the bust and bottom area. Triangles are top heavy while reverse triangles are bottom heavy. If you are still not sure of your shape, stand in front of a mirror and ask a friend to outline your body with a waterbased marker. That will help you determine in what shapre you are under.

The rule of thumb in choosing dress types once you know your body shape is that for hourglass bodies, most dress types fit them. To bring out your voluptuous body, get a dress that hugs your curves. Do not be afraid to choose a tightfitting dress. For rectangular shaped bodies, add some shape to your body by choosing dresses that cinch your waist, to make an illusion of having an hourglass frame. Wear a belt as this also gives the same illusion. For top heavy ladies, dresses with wide skirts will work on giving an appearance of being more proportional. For bottom heavy women, dresses with cow necklines should work or fadd a chunky sweater to add some size to your top.

Third of all, play up on your assets! If you have a perfectly shaped behind, don't be afraid to wear tight fitting skirts. If you have nice breasts, a low cut dress or a v-neck one will work wonders for you. Fourthly, do not forget to accessorize. A dress in itslef is pretty to look at, especially if it flatters your body shape but do not forget to liven your look up with some great hoop earings or a feminine bracelet.

Lastly, relax and go with your gut feel. Even if all signs point to dress A but you do not feel comfortable in wearing it, then do not buy it. Go with the dress that you will feel glamorous in wearing. After all, pulling off great fashion clothing relies 50% in the way you confidently wear it.
