If you do not have a barbecue grill, and you do not want to spend a lot of money on one, there are ways to sold old, beat up grills and make them cook as good as new. When BBQ grill parts go out on an old grill, many people simply buy a new grill and get rid of the old one. It is simple and low in cost to replace these barbecue grill parts at the fraction of the cost of buying a new grill. You can easily replace any part on a grill on your own.

If a family member or neighbor is getting rid of their old grill, there are several things you will want to do to the grill in order to get it back in working order. First, you will want to take the cooking grate and rock grate off from the grill. You will want to clean all of the grime ad grease off of the grill in order to make it look and operate like new. The grill may not ever look new, but it can work as if it came right from the store. Be sure that before you do any type of work on the grill, disconnect the propane tank or gas supply. You should also wear gloves to protect your hands from grease stains and a multitude of other dirty areas.

To check and see if the igniter works, hold a mirror behind the box and push the button several times. If you see a spark, the igniter works. If you do not, you can replace the part or live without it. Many grills are just as easy to light without the help of an igniter, though you will want to use extra care when you light a grill without the device.

The burner is the part that grill owners often see go bad on their grills. You will want to remove the burner and take it apart. Sometimes, all it needs is a simple cleaning. If there is rust on or around the burner, you may need to replace it. After you have all of these pieces out of the grill, scrub the interior of it. You can loosen buildup with a putty knife and then just use a simple soap and water mixture to free the grease and other debris.

If you want the outside of the grill to look nice, you can also restore the exterior. If the grill has shelves on either side with food, you can sand the wood and rub in some oil to make the wood come alive. You can also paint the exterior or simply wash it to remove grease.

Once you have the old grill tuned up and with new barbecue grill parts in place, it should work as good as new.
