We all remember the Lancia Delta of the 80s and 90s; it was sweeping rally stages all across the globe. The standard model of the Delta was a 5 door family hatchback; the first generation model was produced from 1979 till 1994. Throughout its time the Delta won over many car enthusiasts and established a cult following.

The second generation model was launched in 1993 and remained in production till 1999. Being part of the Fiat group means that the Delta is sold under various brands around the world. The third generation model has been launched in the UK under the Chrysler brand. The new car uses the Fiat C Platform.

Sold as a new Chrysler the Delta has been designed by the Lancia Style Centre " the new model is aimed at the luxury end of the small family car sector. The Chrysler Delta will come with an array of standard and optional equipment including a Bose Hi-Fi radio incorporating a CD player and MP3 file reader with steering-wheel mounted controls, the Blue&Me system developed with Microsoft, and brand new satellite navigation system developed with Magneti Marelli.

UK Chrysler Delta models are on sale now and start from 16,695. The UK spec cars come with a good deal of standard safety equipment including Daytime Running Lights (DRL), six airbags, three-point safety belts for all five seats, ABS anti-lock braking with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Holder and Anti Slip Regulation traction control.

Engine options consist of two petrol and two diesel units, the petrol is a 1.4 litre with either 120 or 150 PS. The diesel range has a 1.6 litre with 120 PS and a 2.0 litre with 165 PS. Chrysler and Fiat have gone to great lengths to try and make the Delta stand out from the competition, you have to see it and drive it to really appreciate it.
